Rudjard M. Hayes has served our community for 12 years as an aggressive prosecutor with a commitment to victims’ rights, prosecuting serious crimes, especially those against children.

Accomplishments

Prosecuted hundreds of criminal felonies, winning convictions in all but 5 trials.
Convicted a serial killer who was suspected of killing women in Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb and Coweta Counties.
• Never had a conviction reversed or overturned on appeal
• Appointed Special Prosecutor in Fulton, Paulding, and Harris Counties.
• Appointed one of the first 12 Chief Drug Prosecutors in Georgia.
• One of only 16 prosecutors in the nation to attend advanced training on prosecuting sex crimes against children in 2002
• Appointed to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Child Advocacy Center’s Video Testimony Task Force.

Professional
• Assistant District Attorney (ADA), Coweta Judicial Circuit 1996-2004; Griffin Judicial Circuit, 2005-2007.
• Law enforcement instructor on search and seizure, investigating crimes against children,and sex crimes.
• Adjunct professor at Georgia State University.

Education
• Bachelor of Arts from Auburn University and law degree from Georgia State University.

Family
• Married to Lorraine, with two children Matthew, who attends the University of Georgia, and Olivia, who is 7.
• Coached little league baseball in Sharpsburg and youth football in Peachtree City.
• Coaches Our Lady of Mercy High School and Georgia State University’s mock trial teams.
